Our wedding anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks. I’ve been thinking hard about what I can get or make for Mr B, since we’re on quite the stringent budget until I can take on a bit more work. I spent all week thinking about gifts involving paper, only to remember that paper was for the first anniversary, and we were coming into our second. What’s the traditional gift for a second anniversary? Any suggestions?
In the meantime, I thought I’d share some ideas for ‘things involving paper’ that I came across, some suitable for friends and others for lovers, because they are too nice to go to waste.
1. The wish braceletMake the bracelet using this tutorial from oh, hello friend. Add a little gift tag – personally I’d make a pretty one and paint it up (that’s the paper part). Write something like this: “Make a wish. Tie on your bracelet. When it falls off, your wish is granted.” Sweet, huh?
2. The dream jar
I first saw this dream jar on Happiness Is in January, as a more tangible alternative to New Year’s resolutions. The idea is to select little items that symbolise your hopes and dreams for the year (or beyond), and store them in a jar as a lovely reminder.
3. The message in a bottle
Follow this tutorial on Etsy to make and send your very own message in a bottle. So beautiful.
4. The embossed address
I recently ordered a beautiful ink stamp with my postal address on it, to use on the back of my letters. I love it, and feel so special each time I stamp it on a parcel I’m sending. But I must say, now I’ve seen these custom embossers, my finger is tingling over the “order now” button.
5. The secret peg message
What a brilliant little idea, just on a clothes peg! Don’t you think these would make the sweetest little messages to leave around the house for someone you love?
