These are some of the “tea fortune” parcels I sent out to some super-lovely people recently. (You can take a look the tea fortunes here). It was actually quite hard to come up with mail-art designs that worked on such teeny tiny packages. I struggled to find space to fit pictures and names and addresses and wax seals and stamps all on the one little panel, while still ensuring the addresses were big enough to be legible. Still, I kind of like how small they are. To me it makes them feel more gift-like, if that makes sense. I hope the recipients feel the same way.
Oh Naomi I just adore your snail mail artwork. It was such a thrill to be a recipient of one of these little delights. The tea is divine! And I’ve kept the artwork – not sure what I’ll do with it – but I certainly can’t throw it away! And those smaller packages just make it so much more precious.
I’m so glad you liked it Deb. Yours was one of my favourites!
I bet the Post Office enjoys your mail as much as we do!
Fingers crossed they like it and don’t get annoyed!
Girl! When is your next book going to be pusblished? You have got to do a gift book about snail mail, for all the mail lovers out there!
Ha ha I think that has already been done. A book called “airmail” will have to be close enough
Absolutely divine!! So many people getting such a thrill to receive these beautiful parcels. I can relate to the small scale issues too, recently sent a birthday card and found it a bit challenging to fit in all the details I wanted on the envelope and still have the postie be able to read the address.
He he he we must rise to these challenges! 😉
I love the horse one. You’re so talented!
Thank you!! x
I feel like there should totally be a job for you that involves writing fun things and creating beautiful drawings on packages that are sent all over. It just needs to exist. There’s too much crazy talent in you for it not to.
Also, I just changed the fonts for your comments because they were hard to read.
Honey, you are the BEST! I was aware of that, but didn’t know how to change it and didn’t want to bother you over it. xxx
That would be my dream job! If only it existed.
Yay there is my lovely letter with the umbrella on it. You must know I love rain.
Thank you so much and when i finally did open the letter I was so happy with the giant tea bag and fortunes inside. Thank you so much you are so thoughtful and talented and kind
Oh Jenny I’m so glad you liked your mail! Your picture was inspired by Madeleine aged 2, who was trying to walk in the rain while carrying her father’s gigantic golf umbrella. All you could see underneath it was a tiny pair of rain boots.
These are all so beautiful. You really have an eye for the small, telling detail.
That’s so good of you to say Lilybett. Thank you!
